The pragmatic, short term, goal is to
develop a simple, FREE, elastic distributed storage system for
structured data with special focus on scalability & availability. The
long term objective, the aqoo anima (ting
vision) is the data continuum, a living, open, transparent,
omnipresent information space.
More precisely the intention is to create a flexible abstraction and
distribution layer on top of common storage mechanisms (such
relational databases) capable to deal with fast growing, internet
scale, amounts of data.
The software should cope well with constantly changing information
structures, no data definition, schema, meta-model or any other
ontology like constructs should be required prior to data publishing.
Similar to any natural system, a regular deployment should be capable
to reshape, expand or contract effortlessly according to needs or
environmental changes
The data cluster should promote loose coupled integration with similar
peers (eg. allowing higher data distribution abstractions) or with
third party applications, expose simple communication interfaces (eg.
Web APIs) and human friendly protocols (eg. publish and query
languages). |
